Remembering Akari Kubo

Dallas Stars Elite Girls Hockey Association Mourns the Loss of Akari Kubo

The Dallas Stars Elite (DSE) Girls Hockey Association is heartbroken to share the tragic news of the passing of Akari Kubo, a beloved former player, teammate, and member of our hockey family. Akari, who was with the DSE Girls program for six years, tragically lost her life in a recent motor vehicle accident.

Akari played her senior year with DSE during the 2018-2019 season and will always be remembered as a gifted, playmaking forward. Her skill and hockey IQ were unmatched, but Akari’s greatest contributions reached far beyond her abilities on the ice. She was a shining example of positivity, hard work, and selflessness, qualities that made her not only an exceptional player but also an irreplaceable teammate and friend.

Akari was one of the most coachable, hardworking, and dependable teammates we've ever had. She set the bar for others, always making the right plays in both the offensive and defensive zones. But what truly defined her was the kindness, care, and support she showed to everyone off the ice. Akari was perfect as a player, teammate, and friend in the DSE Girls Hockey Community.

Akari's character, humor, and love for her teammates helped form one of the closest groups in DSE history. She was the heart of her team—always there for others, always lifting people up. She will forever be remembered as the ultimate teammate and a loving friend who brought joy to all who knew her.

Her memory will live on in the DSE Girls community. We extend our deepest condolences to the Kubo family during this incredibly difficult time, and we ask that everyone keep them in their thoughts.

As we mourn this tremendous loss, we are committed to working with her teammates, the Kubo family and our DSE community to honor Akari’s memory in the coming months. Her legacy will continue to inspire us all.

Akari Kubo #98 – Forever in our hearts. 💚💚
